These are all different terms for a baby pacifier. These terms hail from different geographical regions but they all do the same thing; soothe a baby. So whether you use the term pacifier, soother, binky or dummy, we at MAM understand exactly what goes into making the best orthodontic pacifier for your baby.
Before its first use, and at regular intervals thereafter, use the sterilizer box OR boil the pacifier in water for up to five minutes, OR use a sterilizer (top rack). Do not pour hot boiling water directly on the pacifier.
Sometimes water may enter the inside of the teat. This is no problem at all! The reason for it is the ventilation system that exists in the nipple and helps make the pacifier orthodontic. This water can be easily expelled by pressing the teat slightly with clean hands.
Yes, only with orthodontic pacifiers baby’s healthy jaw and tooth development is supported. MAM partners with medical experts appointed by the ICMRS (International Children Medical Research Society) to develop the most innovative, orthodontic pacifiers in the market that suit baby's various developmental stages. To best cater for your baby's developmental stage, MAM has four ranges of pacifiers: newborn pacifiers for approximately 0-2 months of age, a range for 2-6 month old babies, pacifiers that suit 6+ month old babies as well as our largest pacifiers designed for the needs of babies aged 16 months and above.
All MAM pacifiers have symmetrical teats: there is no ‘top’ or ‘bottom’. So, the pacifier can be put in the baby's mouth in any direction and will not cause any harm to their oral cavity development.
MAM pacifiers are also orthodontically safe for your baby primarily because of a ventilation system that exists in the teat. When the baby closes down on the teat, the air from inside the teat is pushed out through the ventilation system thereby flattening the teat and adapting to the baby´s individual oral cavity.
Babies are born with the natural urge to suck. Some babies need non-nutritive sucking to calm themselves to sleep, some need comforting or want to relax. A good pacifier can help with all of these needs. Pacifiers are recommended by many pediatric dentists and medical experts. This is because it is much easier to wean a baby off of pacifiers than it is to wean them off thumb-sucking.
When baby is engaged in playing, (s)he most likely can do without a pacifier as the baby is already distracted and relaxed by interaction with toys and social contacts.
Important note! Do not force your child to give up when he is not ready. Normally, 95% will give up by themselves by the age of 3.
All children are different and have their individual needs. Sucking calms and relaxes babies and should therefore not be limited. The orthodontic MAM pacifiers support healthy development, so you do not need to worry about them harming your baby’s oral cavity development.
No. All MAM pacifiers are developed in cooperation with medical experts and comply with international safety standards and minimal size regulations for pacifiers. It is impossible for babies to swallow an entire MAM pacifier.
In very rare cases, babies can manage to squeeze the entire pacifier in their mouths. Should the pacifier become lodged in the baby's mouth, remove the pacifier as gently as possible by grabbing the pacifier button. It is designed to be easily and safely removed.
Please also follow MAM’s age recommendations. All our pacifiers come with the perfect size of teat and shield. Please use the models/size according to your baby’s age for healthy jaw and tooth development.
MAM is very honoured to be named one of Europe’s most caring companies when it comes to the safety of babies. We have been recognised with a “Special Mention” for setting and exceeding product safety standards for pacifiers, bottles and cups where we were awarded for pioneering the safety regulations in the baby industry.
Already in the 1980s, MAM began developing a pacifier standard which has been implemented across Europe. But at MAM we always strive for more! Our internal requirements and testing criteria go well beyond the norms. MAM pacifiers are subjected to 40 different testing methods before being made available for sale, while MAM bottles must pass 28 different tests. We have established our own research department and work closely with medical experts and parents during the development of our products. To ensure that every product meets our highest standards, product quality is constantly monitored and documented with a robust traceability system.
For more than 40 years, we have positioned ourselves as an industry leader in product safety, our top priority being the development of products for the well-being, safety and health of babies.

MAM has developed an innovative silicone teat: the SkinSoft™ teat. The patented silicone teat is ultra soft and feels like mom's breast. Thanks to the anti-slip surface, the soother easily stays in baby's mouth.
Check the pacifier before each use – especially when the baby is teething – and throw away at the first signs of damage or weakness. However, we recommend the pacifier be replaced every 1-2 months for hygienic purposes.
No. MAM products do not contain softening agents. MAM only uses materials that meet the highest expectations and safety standards of the FDA and EN 1400. Hence, all MAM pacifiers are completely baby-safe. They do not contain BPA, BPS, PVC, Phthalate, or Lead.
The button on the soother has a crystal structure that absorbs and then gives off light. This is “naturally recharged” by daylight during the day, enabling baby or parents to easily find it again at night.
The glow-in-the-dark button cannot be charged using LED light.
This depends on the charging time and light source (such as the intensity of natural light during the day). Under optimal conditions, the glow effect can last for up to 6-7 hours.
Yes, of course. MAM safety and quality standards are extremely high. Every one of our products is thoroughly tested and approved to be 100% safe for babies.
